5 Great Tips For Healthy Skin

Skin is the body’s largest organ. When healthy, its layers work hard to protect us. But when it’s compromised, the skin’s ability to work as an effective barrier is impaired. We have therefore found the best ways to improve skin health to support it in maintaining its protective role.

1) Make sure you apply SPF daily- We know, you've heard it a million times, but wearing SPF is the best way to prolong healthy, glowing skin. When it comes to how to get flawless skin, know that: Ninety percent of wrinkles are from sun exposure. It's so much easier to prevent the damage than it is to fix it afterwards. That means no slacking during winter months either. What’s more, don't forget to apply when you're in the office or the car, as cell-damaging UVA rays can penetrate glass too.  Look for a formula that offers broad-spectrum protection to guard against UVA rays (the ones that cause premature ageing) and UVB rays (one of the main causes of skin cancer).

2) Drink more water for healthy skin- Drink the correct amount of water daily and you could notice a huge shift in your skin. The new model is to take half your body weight, transfer this number to ounces, and that number is how much water you should be consuming each day. It’s probably more than you thought, so start slow but definitely increase the amount you drink and you will start to notice a luster to your skin. Your internal organs will be happier as well.

3) Treat your skin gently- Daily cleansing and shaving can take a toll on your skin. To keep it gentle:

  • Limit bath time. Hot water and long showers or baths remove oils from your skin. Limit your bath or shower time, and use warm — rather than hot — water.
  • Avoid strong soaps. Strong soaps and detergents can strip oil from your skin. Instead, choose mild cleansers. For face use Anti-Bacterial Face Cleanser as it will clean all the dirts.
  • Shave carefully. To protect and lubricate your skin, apply shaving cream, lotion or gel before shaving. For the closest shave, use a clean, sharp razor. Shave in the direction the hair grows, not against it. Do not forget to apply After Shave Splash.
  • Pat dry. After washing or bathing, gently pat or blot your skin dry with a towel so that some moisture remains on your skin.
  • Moisturize dry skin. If your skin is dry, use a moisturizer that fits your skin type. For daily use, consider a moisturizer that contains SPF.

4) Eat a healthful diet- There is a multibillion-dollar industry dedicated to products that keep your skin looking its best, and which claim to fight signs of aging. But moisturizers only go skin deep, and aging develops at a deeper, cellular level. What you eat is as important as the products that you put on your skin. Your diet could improve your skin health from the inside out, so a clear complexion begins with eating a healthful diet.

5) Get your beauty sleep- Yet another important reason to prioritize sleep: Inadequate or disturbed sleep can wreak havoc on your skin. Research has shown that poor sleep quality can contribute to increased signs of skin aging (fine lines and wrinkles) and compromised skin barrier function. As with water, eight hours is the standard rule of thumb for sleep, but always listen to your body.
